So, I’ve been out of it the past 4 days. Out of my mind for one thing… because of so much pain.
After tottering on high heels one night and moving about the office, my lower back decided to wreak vengeance on me. I found myself unable to move at all without any pain. Good thing that my cellphone was at hand while I was confined to my bed. I was able to bother mahBebe and call our landline to ask my Dad to bring me some liniment. My mom showed up with a tube of Ultra Strength BenGay, massaged my back so that a few minutes after I fell asleep.
For two solid days, I was unable to move from the bed at all except for painful moments when I had to go to the bathroom or eat. Painkillers were not working at all. I missed out closing my 5th class of students for one of the programs that I ran.
The third day found me at the doctor’s office who ordered x-rays (to rule out any bone fractures, slipped disc and the like) and urinalysis (to rule out any infections). The lab tests turned out to be negative. (Thank God!)
For the next month or so, the doctor said that I shouldn’t be carrying anything heavy, exercise my back by stretching as well as preventive measures since it’s likely to happen again. I should bend from the knees when picking up something from the floor for one thing and absolutely NO HEELED SHOES FOR ONE TO TWO MONTHS! “Nooooooooooooooo!” exclaimed my soul while the doctor was saying it.
Or maybe I was just imagining him saying that. I just remembered that was on increased dosage of pain medicine that time.
