On one of our Cubao sojourns, mah Bebe and I decided to try out Butter Diner at the Shopwise arcade facing the Araneta Coliseum. I felt like trying out the all-day breakfast even though the time was closer to dinner.
I wasn’t able to get a shot of the interiors but it basically has the look of a retro diner. Not quite ’50s since they had lava lamps hanging from the ceiling. The interiors are butter-yellow (but of course!) with raised booths on one side, a bar-counter for dining in the middle and laminate tables on one side.
Each of the booths had a black toaster for use of the diners, several were also laid out on the counter.
Going in to the restaurant, I was thinking of getting one of their breakfasts. However, it was more extensive than what I expected. I ended up getting their chowder and their philly cheesesteak with mah Bebe getting a pasta dish.
What gives Butter Diner the name? Well, they have flavored butter to go with your breakfast items.

The complimentary bread came with peanut butter butter which was sooooo good! I got a couple of flavored butters (strawberry field, creamed butter, blueberry) to bring home with an order of Belgian waffles but anayami said they were too weird. I promised to go back and try their breakfast items the next time.
Anyway, here’s a picture of my philly cheesesteak.
It was kind of a let down because I was hoping that it would be bigger and “sloppier”. It came on a regular hotdog bun. I was surprised, however, that finishing just half of it left me with a full stomach. Even though my first impression was that it was dinky, the flavors are full and big nonetheless. There was a hint of the pesto butter on the top bun, the beef was tender and flavorful and the lettuce was crisp. Another big plus for me was that slice of tomato smeared with honey mustard. Any savory sandwich + mustard = a happy Miaka!
I’m going to go back to Butter Diner for the waffles and the other breakfast items. Hopefully, that next time the whole experience would be all good.

hehe. kami din twice na kumain sa butter diner! i enjoyed the waffles and pancakes because of the syrups. me blueberry, strawberry…

Out of curiosity, my fiance and I tried out Butter Diner after a very tiring work aside from the fact that we really love to dine out and try different food establishments
Well, it’s our first time w/ Butter Diner but unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience. We are not happy customers:
1. I ordered Adobo Flakes (in the menu fruit salad is included as part of the meal). We’re about to finish our meals already but still, no fruit salad was served. When we asked the attendant, that was the only time he informed us that the fruit salad is not being served instead potato salad was given.
2. My fiance ordered for an extra garlic rice. The trainee who took the order even repeated the items on her list but my fiance already finished the toasts and eggs, still no extra garlic rice was there! We even reminded it to the attendant who assisted us when we transferred seats*
3.We thought of the place as a cozy place wherein we can relax a bit.. *Why did we transfer? When the food was served and when we already started our meals.. 2 COCKROACHES WERE CHASING EACH OTHER RIGHT IN FRONT OF US! YES! 2 COCKROACHES APPEARED SOMEWHERE FROM THE SIDE OF THE TABLE. We approached the guy attendant and his remarks were “Tsk! Ipis na nman?” What??? Do these insects regularly visit the place??? So, we were assisted to transfer but just the same, a cockroach appeared again..

by the way.. if you want proofs we can send you the video, we also have a receipt. Piece of advice, have your place checked by pest control!
