In 24 days, it’s going to be Christmas. What used to be one of my most awaited days in the year had turned into just another number on the calendar. Last year, I started my Christmas shopping as early as August buying a few items here and there as I made my rounds in my shopping havens. This year, I’ve got 1 plastic bag of stuff stashed in my room and no more energy to go out and buy stuff again.
My last minute US trip to attend a seminar/conference/boot camp/exam has me panicking. I have to prepare for the exam in between handling classes and setting course schedules and planning for next year’s curriculum. It’s also got me worried since I could not get a confirmed flight back home. Being that I’m leaving for home 7 days before Christmas has me right smack in the rush of balikbayans.
Just to show you how out of my mind I am I went to work this morning despite sleeping only for 2 hours, determined to finish the week on the day shift. I was going about the stuff that I need to do when a colleague asked about the schedule for the next class which ends mid-January. Since I was already looking at the calendars, I decided to peek at the December schedule. Good thing too! I found out that I was supposed to be on the night shift and that I have a class tomorrow night!!! If I didn’t take a look at those calendars, my class would have been twiddling their thumbs while I put myself to bed with our program coordinator frantically sending me text messages and calling my cellphone.
I tell you, this is bound to kill me.
